"Scouting" the RAGBRAI overnight towns... Day 4 in Charles City

Also known as America's hometown, Charles City will be a lovely overnight stop on Day 4 (July 26th). It also appears I've been matched up with a host family there for the night and will have indoor sleeping! Details to follow... woo hoo ;)

Perched along the Cedar River, Charles City offers a great pizza place that uses local farmers market ingredients, a coffee roastery, and even a cable-stayed bridge and whitewater rafting! There is also a historical museum with collections of vintage tractors, Native American artifacts, and a full sized pioneer cabin and period 1800s drugstore. They have a bowling alley (AC!), brewery, pub and many eateries, and beautiful shady riverfront camping spots.

Their 2017 RAGBRAI town logo is "the last hump before the hills"... referring to the final day of flat riding before 3 days of hills, with elevation gains ranging from 2200 feet on Thursday to 3000 feet on the final day approaching Lansing.
