Scouting RAGBRAI --- Day 1 in Spencer

Another "preview" of a RAGBRAI overnight town...

Spencer will be our first overnight town of RAGBRAI, on July 23rd. They also host the annual Clay County Fair, one of the world's largest, so they should be able to put on a good face for RAGBRAI riders. The Little Sioux River runs through town, with a pretty bridge and a river view coffee house too. With a bike shop, sports bar, art gallery and Mexican restaurant in town, we'll be taken care of. An abandoned cat found in their library's drop box inspired a book and the "Dewey" craze. Lots of public parks and trails, and an aquatic center will be nice resting spots for RAGBRAI overnight campers! A giant slide at the Fairgrounds will provide entertainment, along with a band. A wine bar with craft beer now resides in an old church on the river and will offer refreshments, along with restaurants and plenty of food vendors nearby. Lake Okoboji is a beautiful place in town to relax too.
